    Covid-19: Zero new positive cases recorded in Sarawak today, total at 571

    KUCHING: No new Covid-19 positive cases were recorded in Sarawak today, leaving the total cumulative tally of positive cases in the state at 571, says the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC).

    The death toll from the virus in the state remains at 17, as no deaths were reported.

    Meanwhile, 20 new person-under-investigation (PUI) cases were recorded, where one is pending lab test results.

    All in all, only 17 active cases are being treated at hospitals where seven are at the Sarawak General Hospital, one at Sibu Hospital and nine at Bintulu Hospital.

    Three districts namely Kuching, Bintulu and Sibu remained classified as yellow zones while 37 other districts in the state are green zones.

    No new recovery and discharged cases were recorded today, maintaining it at 537 or 94.05 per cent to date, according to SDMC.

    At the same time, the committee recorded 60 new person-under-surveillance (PUS) cases today, bringing the total cumulative tally to 928 PUS cases which are quarantined in 13 hotels across the state.

    In Kuching, there are 264 PUS cases, Miri (395), Bintulu (114), Limbang (27) and Sibu (128).

    Today, Ops Benteng conducted six roadblocks in five districts to prevent illegal entry into the state’s border.

    The roadblocks were set up in Lundu, Bau, Serian, Sri Aman and Lubok Antu.

    So far enforcement agencies manning the roadblocks have conducted checks on 1,684 vehicles, and no arrests have been made.
