DAP Serian branch chief Edward Andrew Luwak quits party

KUCHING: Democratic Action Party (DAP) Serian branch chief Edward Andrew Luwak has resigned from the party with immediate effect.

The 67-year-old who joined the DAP in July 2011, did not disclose in detail as to why he decided to quit the party but said he had lost faith in the party’s leadership.

“The decision to quit the party is stated in a letter to the party. I don’t need to go into detail but I just want to say I have lost confidence in the party’s leadership,” he said when met at the Crown Towers here today.

Edward said he had already tendered his resignation letter to the party’s secretariat, with a copy of the letter was sent to DAP Sarawak chairman Chong Chieng Jen.

The former DAP man said he had served as a full-time politician in the last nine years, attending to the needs of the general public at the DAP Serian service centre.

Edward said he will not retire from politics even though he had resigned from DAP.

Asked whether he would join another political party in the near future, he said he is now at a crossroads and will make a decision later.

Edward first contested under the ticket of DAP in Serian during the 2013 general elections and subsequently in Bukit Semuja in the 2016 state polls and Serian again in the 2018 general elections.

He did not lose the deposits in the mentioned three elections.
