
KUCHING (Aug 8): Malaysia recorded seven new positive Covid-19 cases as at 12pm today, bringing the total number of cases in the country to 9,080.
Health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said out of the total positive cases, six were imported cases, out of which three were detected in Kuala Lumpur, one in Selangor, one in Sarawak and one in Labuan.
“Only one local transmission case involving a Malaysian was detected today, which was from a workplace screening case in Negeri Sembilan.
“The patient previously worked in Indonesia and returned to Malaysia on May 7, did not exhibit any symptoms and was admitted to Tuanku Ja’afar Hospital,” he said in a statement today.
Dr Noor Hisham said there were 47 cases which have recovered from the disease and were discharged from the hospital today, bringing the total recovery and discharged cases to 8,775.
No deaths were recorded today, as the country’s death toll remained unchanged at 125.
Currently, the total number of active cases stands at 170, where two are receiving treatment at intensive care units, out of which one requires ventilator support.
