NVIDIA Unveils GeForce MX450 Graphics; Supports PCIe 4.0 and GDDR6

The GeForce MX series might not be as powerful as its GTX and RTX counterparts but that doesn’t mean it has no place in the market though. Primarily positioned as a viable alternative to integrated graphics inside laptops or All-In-One PCs, NVIDIA has recently a new family member for the series: the GeForce MX450.

However, the company provides very little details regarding the new GPU to the public though. Inside its specs sheet on NVIDIA’s website, there were no mentioned of MX450’s clock speeds or even the architecture that the graphics chip is based on, although it has been rumoured that the chip is based on the Turing TU117 GPU which was used for the GTX 16-series graphics cards.

However, NVIDIA did point out that the MX450 can be paired with either GDDR5 or the faster GDDR6 memory. Additionally, the graphics chip is also able to support PCIe 4.0 although this bus standard is still quite new and has yet been adopted by many manufactures.

You don’t have to wait long to see the GeForce MX450 in the market though as laptops powered by the new graphics chip are expected to be available starting from October 2020 onwards, according to NVIDIA.
