KOTA KINABALU (Sept 28): Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS), comprising Perikatan Nasional (PN), Barisan Nasional (BN) and Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS), has announced Sabah PN chairman Datuk Hajiji Noor as their candidate for the new Chief Minister of Sabah.

Hajiji said the parties in GRS had unanimously agreed to nominate him as the candidate for the new Chief Minister of Sabah.

“We have unanimously agreed to name me as the Chief Minister,” he said in a press conference.

The press conference was held after a meeting between PN secretary general Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin, Umno vice president Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob , Sabah BN chairman Datuk Seri Bung Mokhtar Radin, Sabah Star president Datuk Dr Jeffrey Kitingan, Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) Secretary General Datuk Jahid Jahim and the GRS elected representatives.

Asked when he would be sworn in as the Chief Minister, Hajiji said the GRS was informed that the swearing in ceremony would be held tomorrow.

He was tight-lipped when asked on the GRS state cabinet line-up.

He said the state cabinet members would be appointed after the chief minister has been sworn in.
