Alleged AMD Radeon RX 6800 3DMark Time Spy Score, Gaming Benchmarks With DXR Leaks

We’re still weeks away from the official availability of AMD’s Radeon RX 6800XT and RX 6800 graphics cards and suffice to say, we’re dying to find out how they’ll stack up against their NVIDIA counterparts. In that regard, we have some insight into the RX 6800’s performance, thanks to a leak.

The leaks come from the editor of the Taiwanese tech site, Uniko’s Hardware, who posted the alleged RX 6800’s 3DMark Time Spy score online via their Twitter account. On a side note, there’s no way to verify the source of this benchmark, but leakster site Videocardz is vouching for the post’s authenticity.

Getting back on point, the Time Spy score shows the supposed RX 6800 achieving 12704 points overall, while its graphics score is rated at 16775 points. In comparison, the former score puts its slightly behind NVIDIA’s GeForce RTX 3070 Founders Edition, which managed to score 13090 points overall in our review. Having said that, the RTX 3070’s graphics score did trail behind the AMD card with a score of 13416.

Aside from 3DMark, the editor also posted screenshots of the RX 6800’s performance in Shadow of the Tomb Raider, running at two resolutions: 1440p (2560 x 1440) and 4K (3840 x 2160). The takeaway here is that both resolutions are shown to be running with the “Ray Traced Shadows Quality” setting on and set to High.

To be clear, this setting is not proprietary to NVIDIA’s RTX technology and is, in fact, accessible to AMD’s Radeon GPU. Provided that they have the necessary ray-tracing hardware for it, which the RX 6800 and its bigger brothers – both the RX 6800XT and RX 6900XT run on AMD’s Navi 21 GPU – have.

The screenshots show that at 1440p, the alleged RX 6800 manages to maintain an average of 80 fps, while at 4K, it only manages an average of 46 fps, both of which sound par for the course for a card of its calibre. However, it should also be noted that the scores don’t say if those framerates are being aided by some form of anti-aliasing or upscaling, similar to NVIDIA’s DLSS technology.

AMD’s Radeon RX 6800XT and RX 6800 are set to launch on 18 November, while the RX 6900XT will launch a little later on 8 December. All three cards will ship out with 16GB GDDR6 graphics memory, up to 80 Compute Units (CUs), and 128MB Infinity Cache.
