BlizzConline Will Be Free To Watch According To Blizzard President

Back in September, Blizzard announced the dates for the first BlizzConline that replaces this year’s BlizzCon. Usually, today would be one of the days on which the event takes place. Instead, we get a Fireside chat with company president J Allen Brack. And he announced that the online convention will be free to watch.

This is another major departure from prior BlizzCons, in addition to being a purely online convention. As with physical tickets, you needed to pay for an e-ticket to watch prior iterations of the convention online. And naturally, they didn’t come cheap, costing the equivalent of a concert ticket prices.

That being said, Brack didn’t say much about what will be shown during next year’s BlizzConline. He mentions a number of projects that the company has been working on like Overwatch 2 and Diablo 4. But doesn’t say if we will be seeing more of those games during the online event.

At any rate, the fact that BlizzConline will be free to watch will mean that many will be able to see what a BlizzCon is all about for themselves for the very first time. Hopefully the company is prepared for the potentially unprecedented online traffic. And hopefully the company has substantial announcements to make.
