Samsung To Officially Unveil Exynos 1080 Chipset On 12 November

While this year’s Galaxy S and Galaxy Note models have been successfully launched, it appears that Samsung is gearing up to unveil another product. Rather than than the recently leaked Galaxy S21, the Korean tech giant has announced that it will reveal its brand new Exynos 1080 chipset later this month.

According to SamMobile, the brand’s Chinese branch has recently teased that the chipset will see a launch in Shanghai on 12 November 2020. Typical of any teaser, Samsung did not reveal much details regarding the new Exynos, with the exception of its 5G capability.

    Samsung Unveil Exynos 1080 Chipset

A separate report by Android Authority revealed that the company has confirmed that the upcoming chip will be a direct successor to the Exynos 980 SoC. The predecessor uses newer Cortex-A78 CPU cores and Mali-G78 graphics, and is mainly designed for Samsung’s mid-range phones. With this, the site believes that the 1080 may be intended for the brand’s Galaxy A-series rather than its flagship devices.

Interestingly enough, an early AnTuTu test result of the Exynos 1080 leaked by industry insider Ice Universe revealed that the newer chip outperformed the Snapdragon 865. If the data is to be believed, then Samsung may have something even more powerful in store for its own flagship-tier SoC. That said, the company is said to show interest in developing a “killer” Android-based chipset with help from ARM and AMD, as previously reported.

Further information regarding the Samsung Exynos 1080 chipset would only be revealed when it is officially launched on 12 November. As for its actual performance, we’ll have to wait until the chip is made available along with one of the brand’s upcoming mid-rangers for actual testing.
