SIBU (Jan 5): Sorrow filled the air at the Sibu Mortuary in Jalan Bukit Lima here today as mourners paid their last respects to Lorna Ting and her two sons Wallace Phang and Alvin Pang, who died in the new year’s day tragedy at the Triso ferry point.

The funeral, which started at about 7am under a downpour, was attended by about 50 relatives and friends who were all waiting outside the mortuary as the undertakers transferred the remains of Lorna, Wallace and Alvin to their respective casket.

Sibu Chiang Chuan Association chairman Lim Hong Hui and several members were also present at the mortuary to ensure that the funeral proceeded smoothly.

Sibu Mortuary belongs to the association and the association had allowed the family to use it for free as Lorna’s husband Phang Wei Beng is a member of the association.
