KUCHING (Feb 26): Sarawak United FC has unveiled its new team logo that portrays the cultural elements of Sarawak.
Its publicity and media management said in a statement today that the use of ‘Terabai’ formed the basis for the design of this new logo.
The statement said ‘Terabai’ is synonym to the Dayak community in Sarawak and was chosen as a replacement for the club’s old identity.
The logo was registered as the intellectual property of Sarawak United FC under the Intellectual Property Corporation of Malaysia (MyIPO).
“The use of ‘Terabai’ in this logo is the result of the work of Sarawak United FC management that unanimously wants the club to come up with a new image to replace the old logo.
“This new logo will be used starting this season,” pointed out the statement.
According to the statement, ‘Terabai’ is adopted due to its nature of serving as a ‘shield’ to defend and protect from external attacks.
It is noted that the new logo still goes for the three main colours of the Sarawak state flag namely red, black and yellow.
Besides, this new logo does not forget the state bird ‘Kenyalang’ which appears to be a bit modern with its open wings as a symbol of the glory of Bumi Kenyalang (Sarawak), and football in the centre carrying the definition of ‘glory in the football arena’.
This new logo will be used for the first time in an upcoming match against Kedah FC at 8.30pm tomorrow to be held at the Fas Sports Complex Training Center, Selangor.
Meanwhile, the management said it would continue to report the team’s latest development through its official social media platforms such as Facebook and Instagram ‘Sarawak United FC Official’.
It added that training sessions at Mahsa University College, Klang Valley and the latest development on players would continue to be reported live on its official social media.
