SIBU (Feb 28): Bawang Assan assemblyman Dato Sri Wong Soon Koh stresses that vaccination is a process that every responsible citizen must go through to break the chain of Covid-19 infection.

The Parti Sarawak Bersatu (PSB) president pointed out that this was the surest way of protecting members of the community from getting the virus.

Wong added that at his age of 78 years old, he still got vaccinated.

“At my age, I still do it. So, there is no reason why younger and stronger people cannot do it.

“This is something that we just have to accept that immunisation or vaccination has to be done in order to stop Covid-19 from spreading,” he told reporters after receiving his vaccination at Lanang Health Clinic here today.

“Everyone has to do vaccination to protect each other so that the entire community can be protected,” he added.

Additionally, Wong pointed out that senior citizens were the more vulnerable group and needed to be vaccinated.

He reiterated that there was no choice but for everyone to get vaccinated to protect the entire community.

On his experience getting vaccinated, Wong described it as like receiving a usual jab.

“There is no pain, nothing,” he chuckled.

On another matter, Wong talked of his colourful political journey.

“It is sort of funny political journey for me. Started as a YB (elected people’s representative), became the State Legislative Assembly (DUN) speaker, a Minister, a Senior Minister, leader of the opposition. A very colourful journey,” he said.

“This is in a way (my) ‘twilight’ years – I could have enjoyed the rest of my political career, but I think I have an unfinished job to do.

“I want to create a better Sarawak for the people of Sarawak by doing more justice, equality, fair play and greater progress for the people of Sarawak and Sarawak,” he said.

Meanwhile, Wong who was scheduled for vaccination at 11am, arrived early for his jab.
