Julau MP determined to continue serving constituents after quitting PKR

    Larry Sng

SIBU (March 2): Julau MP Larry Sng Wei Shien who quit Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) on Sunday is determined to continue serving his constituents.

He said his focus in continuing his responsibilities as an elected representative was not affected at all by his resignation.

Sng said working for the people in his constituency was a priority and he would stick to his responsibilities as an elected representative.

“I work as usual based on the programmes that have been planned such as discussions involving the lives of the people and current issues in Julau.

“I will continue to be enthusiastic and responsible to the voters who gave me their mandate.

“At the same time, I will not let this matter affect the people in Julau although it is the biggest challenge I have to face at this moment,” he said when contacted by Utusan Borneo.

According to Sng, he decided to resign because he wanted to support the efforts of Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin to help the people during this difficult period.

He said the people were badly affected by Covid-19 pandemic, which led to unstable economic situation and contributed to low commodity prices causing many people to lose their jobs.

Apart from that, he said the political instability over the past one year had damaged the country’s economy and affected the wellbeing of the people.

In his Facebook page on Sunday, Sng said that his decision to resign from PKR had received the blessing of his constituents, adding that there had been too much political instability over the past one year which had damaged the country’s economy and the people’s well being.

He said he believed that the best way forward was to put politics aside towards stabilising and rebuilding Malaysia together.

A Facebook post by Muhyiddin earlier Sunday said Sng alongside Tebrau MP Steven Choong had made a statutory declaration in support of PN.

Sng became Sarawak PKR chief after Selangau MP, Baru Bian, exited the party after the fall of the Pakatan Harapan government in February last year.
