Industrial vaccination centre in S’wak still under discussion

    Dr Rosemawati.

KUCHING (June 6): The question of an industrial vaccination centre (PPV) in Sarawak is still under discussion, said state Health acting director Dr Rosemawati Ariffin.

According to her, the Ministry of International Trade and Industry, Industrial Terminal and Entrepreneur Development (Mintred) has had discussions with the various industries recently on the subject matter.

“Mintred had a meeting with the industries two days ago. The industries need to give a nod whether or not to have the PPV.

“And the industries will have to provide a list to the relevant authorities such as the Covid-19 Immunisation Task Force (CITF) Sarawak,” she said when contacted by The Borneo Post yesterday.

Dr Rosemawati said she had no knowledge whether industries had provided their lists to the authorities concerned.

“There are so many industries and not just those in Samajaya (High Tech Park). You have the timber industry, manufacturing industry and many others.

“All I can say is that the PPV is still under discussion as to whether which industry should go first and so forth,” she added.

She revealed that there are many guidelines to comply with as far as the PPV is concerned.

“We could have the vaccination done at the premises itself or if a few industries come together in an area, we could have it done at one place. It’s all up to the situation.”

Dr Rosemawati reiterated that the PPV matter remained under discussion as to how, when and where to do it.
