Public places to remain closed until July 12

    Clarence Ting

SIBU (July 1): All recreational parks, sports facilities, sports fields, swimming pools and public libraries here will remain closed to members of the public till July 12, says Sibu Municipal Council (SMC) chairman Clarence Ting.

“This is in line with the extension of the Movement Control Order from June 29 to July 12,” he said in a media statement released to mark the full council meeting yesterday morning.

On Occupation Permit (OP), he said the council would put the OP Inspection on hold during the MCO, and would only resume when the MCO is lifted.

Ting also mentioned that they would start issuing certificates for hawkers who have been fully vaccinated.

He said the certificates would be displayed at their stalls for the information of their customers.

Ting also thanked everyone here for working hard and rendering their support during this trying time.

“Although we are in the National Recovery Plan and many of us have been vaccinated, we must be alert at all times and follow the latest standard operating procedures (SOPs) introduced by the government.

“Always be vigilant and remind each other to stay safe. Work together to stop the spread of the virus,” he said.
