750 PwD and parents to get second vaccine jab at Agape Centre

The scene during the vaccination programme at Agape Centre yesterday.

SIBU (July 9): A total of 750 persons with disabilities (PwD) and their parents will receive the second dose of the Covid-19 vaccine at Agape Centre here over the course of two days, starting yesterday.

According to the vaccination programme coordinator at Agape Centre Dr Toh Teck Hock, the two-day exercise is for members of Hearing Impairment Society, Sibu Spinal Cord Injuries Association, and some from the Special Olympics.

He said the exercise this time around will be faster than the previous round as no doctor consent is needed for the second dose.

“Today (yesterday), the vaccination programme is for those who received their first dose on June 16, June 17, and June 18. So basically we combined the three days to only two days this time because people are more efficient and there is no need for doctor consent.

“However, we still do need to screen them – whether they had any contacts with Covid-19 patients – and also their symptoms from the first dose,” he told The Borneo Post when met yesterday.

Dr Toh said the programme is assisted by medical staff as well as nurses and volunteers from various organisations at Agape Centre.

He said another round of vaccination at Agape Centre will be held on July 22 and July 23.
