Civil servant remanded in MACC case over false claims for supply of durian saplings in Lambir

An MACC officer escorts the suspect out of the courthouse after her remand hearing today.

MIRI (July 7): An assistant agriculture officer was remanded for six days until July 12 by the Magistrate’s Court here today to assist with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission’s (MACC) investigation into false claims involving the supply of durian saplings.

Magistrate Leona Dominic Mojiliu issued the remand order against the 40-year-old female suspect following an application by investigating officer Nur Faidah Roslan.

According to MACC sources, the suspect who works at an agriculture office here had allegedly made false claims to a government body on the supply and delivery of 28,805 Musang King durian saplings worth RM999,973.50 for Lambir constituency.

The saplings however were not fully delivered despite full payments were made to the claims.

The investigation is being carried out under Section 18 of the MACC Act 2009.
