Five industry vaccination centres approved in Miri

    Datuk Lee Kim Shin

MIRI (July 3): A total of five industry vaccination centres (PPVIN) have been approved to be set up in Miri while another one is still awaiting approval.

According to the minister-in-charge of Miri Disaster Management Committee (MDMC)  Datuk Lee Kim Shin, the PPVIN were being set up following two virtual meetings organised by Miri Division Covid-19 Immunisation Task Force (CITF) with representative for the relevant industries and Protect Health officials in Kuala Lumpur two weeks ago.

“To date, five PPVIN Miri have been approved and one still pending. The five approved were Emart Riam PPVIN, Miri Port PPVIN, Oil and Gas Lutong PPVIN, Saremas PPVIN and SOP Lambir PPVIN ,” he said in a statement today.

Lee said a number of industries in Miri have applied for the setting up of PPVIN and in view of this, he urged both the state and national CITF to expedite their applications process.

“With the impending setting up of the PPVINs, it will help to intensify and speed up the vaccination programme in Miri. The PPVIN will also help to facilitate those working in their respective industries to have their vaccinations done near their workplace,” he pointed out.

Lee who is also the Minister of Transports added that this will also facilitate the employers to ensure that their employees were vaccinated.

“For shopping complexes, it will also help to facilitate all their tenants within their premises to get vaccinated. Emart PPVIN has specially been set up to cater for such category,” he said.

Elaborating, Lee said Miri has four categories of PPV, namely, Public PPV, Hs (private hospital) PPV, GP (General Practitioner) PPV and PPVIN.

“There is also a proposal to set up Mobile PPV to cater for the bedridden and those elderly with mobility problems at a later stage.

“CITF team is currently liaising with the five approved PPVIN to request them to make the necessary preparations as they are projected to start operation by the middle of next week,” Lee said.
