BINTULU (July 7): Police have arrested a foreign man for allegedly possessing six grams of syabu estimated to be worth RM1,200.
Bintulu police chief Supt Zulkipli Suhaili said the 25-year-old suspect was detained along a staircase of an unnumbered shop at Kidurong Industrial Park, Jalan Tanjung Kidurong on Tuesday at around 3.40pm.
He said a police party from the Bintulu Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department led by Insp Nicholas Golibin arrested the man on suspicion of being involved in drug-related activities.
“Upon inspection on the suspect, police found two transparent plastic packets and three green straw tubes in a cigarette packet on the floor, containing a crystal-like substance believed to be syabu,” he said in a statement today.
Zulkipli said the unemployed Indonesian, who has no previous criminal record, also tested positive for drugs.
The case will be investigated under Section 39A(1) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, Section 15(1)(a) of the same Act, and Section 6(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63.
