Why plan to set up mega PPV at school turned down – PSB man

    Dr Low Ching Nguan

KUCHING (July 3): A Parti Sarawak Bersatu (PSB) member wants to know the reason why the application to set up a mega vaccination centre (PPV) at SM Wong Nai Siong has been turned down.

PSB Sibu Task Force committee member Dr Low Ching Nguan said last week, a group of trained doctors here, including himself, had applied to the Covid-19 Immunisation Task Force (CITF) Sarawak to propose the setting-up of a mega PPV at the secondary school, which should have the capacity of administering 500 to 1,000 doses of vaccine per day.

However, this request was later turned down with no apparent reason being given, he pointed out.

“Practising medicine and contributing to the wellness of people is colour-blind – we don’t choose any side. We just want to end this pandemic the soonest so that people could go back to their normal lives,” he said in a statement yesterday.

Dr Low pointed out that in this critical moment in Sarawak, vaccinating as many people as possible within the shortest period of time could bring down daily Covid-19 cases more effectively.

“This could also mean less lives would be lost in our war against the virus.

“In terms of finance, our economy could open up sooner. We have suffered enough because of half-baked policies under various phases of Movement Control Order (MCO).

“Even after draining our resources for nothing, the cases have yet to die down,” he said.
