DCM’s office demands Facebook user remove ‘malicious’ post, apologise

A supplied screenshot of the post.

KUCHING (Sept 28): The office of Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan is demanding for a Facebook user to immediately take down a post deemed as ‘fake and malicious’.

“The post by the individual is fake and malicious. Any posting that tries to disrupt the stability, harmony and causing prejudice among races is not the way of politics in Sarawak.

“The individual is asked to delete the post and apologise immediately. Failing to do so, reports will be made to the police and the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission,” read the statement issued by the deputy chief minister’s office.

The post by ‘Pemanca Nombor Satu’ was in a members-only group where the individual shared a news link posted on the Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas) website and made allegations against Awang Tengah in the accompanying caption.

On the Ukas Facebook page, the original news link was dated Dec 20, 2020 with the title ‘Defend racial harmony and unity in Sarawak’ in Bahasa Malaysia.
