Five perish, two seriously injured in two-vehicle collision in Pakan

PAKAN (Dec 20): Five people were killed while two were seriously injured in an accident at Batu 2, Jalan Pakan here yesterday.

Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (BOMBA) operations centre spokesperson said that a report on the accident between a four-wheel-drive and a saloon car was received 3.36pm.

“The male driver and a female passenger of the four-wheel-drive were seriously injured in the accident while another male passenger of the vehicle suffered minor injuries.

“The victims who perished were three men and two women from the saloon car.

“All five were pronounced dead at the scene by the Ministry of Health (MoH) staff,” he said in a statement.

The spokesperson added that rescuers had to extricate all victims from the vehicles.

“The injured were handed over to paramedics. The bodies of the five victims were handed over to the police for further action,” he said.

Bomba Bintangor chief Nicholas Belulin confirmed the victims who died in the accident were identified as Ngaoh Angok, 48, David Ajot, 29, Mau Dol, 59, Sabrina Ruja Daniel, 26, and Meringai Bugor, 27.

Ngaoh was the car driver.
