Abun Sui Anyit
KUCHING (Jan 19): Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) Sarawak deputy chairman Abun Sui Anyit has reminded all contractors and civil servants who are entrusted with government projects to carry out their responsibilities with integrity and honesty.
He said PKR and Pakatan Harapan (PH) Sarawak concurred with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s recent call for every project in the country to be scrutinised first before it can be announced.
“Such a method or standard of procedure (SOP) is very important to ensure that the project reaches the target in good condition and quality that has been set.
“This method is also expected to reduce leakages in the implementation of government projects for the people.
“We don’t want, for example, a bridge project in a village to end up as a ‘titi’ (small bridge) or a Grade C road to end up as a gravel road,” said the PKR central leadership council member in a statement.
“We hope that eventually Malaysia will rise again to become a prosperous and respected country with the cooperation of all parties,” he said.
Anwar, at an event in Kangar, Perlis on Monday was quoted as saying that new government projects will not be announced in states that he visits without first being examined.
He said every project would have to be studied and approved by all parties before the project can be announced to ensure that it can be carried out in a transparent and smooth manner.
