KUCHING: A 23-year-old motorcyclist died from serious head injuries when he was involved in an accident with another vehicle at a traffic light intersection at Mile 4, Jalan Kuching-Serian around 5am this morning.
Riding pillion with the deceased was a 26-year-old male who is currently warded at the Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) with injuries to his left leg.
“The motorcycle was believed to have jumped the red light when it collided with an oncoming vehicle,” said Sarawak Traffic Investigation and Enforcement chief Supt Alexson Naga Chabu in a statement today.
Inside the vehicle was a husband and wife who were heading towards the city centre from Padawan. Both were not physically injured in the accident.
The deceased was pronounced dead at the scene by medical personnel and his body has since been transferred to the SGH’s morgue for further action.
The case is currently being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
