Lee (left) is being briefed by Denis on their preparation for the immunusation programme.

MIRI (June 10): KPJ Specialist Hospital here is the latest private hospital roped in to serve as another Covid-19 vaccination centre here.

Minister in-charge for Miri Division Disaster Management Committee (MDDMC) Datuk Lee Kim Shin said the hospital will join three other private medical facilities here, namely Columbia Asia Hospital, Borneo Medical Centre (BMC) and Miri City Medical Centre, to support the government in implementing the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme.

Lee, who is also Transport Minister, told the press this after inspecting preparatory work at KPJ Specialist Hospital for the implementation of the immunisation programme, which will start on June 14.

Miri Resident Abdul Aziz Mohd Yusuf who is also MDDMC chairman, divisional health officer Dr P Raviwharmman Packierisamy, Miri Hospital director Dr Jack Wong, acting Miri District Officer Siti Rohanie Yusof and KPJ Specialist Hospital general manager Denis Saving Boniface were among those who accompanied Lee during the visit.

Denis briefed Lee and entourage on the facilities at KPJ Specialist Hospital and also their preparation for the immunisation programme.

Lee, meanwhile, said the MDDMC had initially set 50 persons a day to receive vaccines at KPJ Specialist Hospital.

“We may increase the number to 200 a day because space is not a problem at this hospital.”

He encouraged more private medical facilities and clinics here to come forward and support the national immunisation programme as vaccination centres.
