TEBEDU (June 10): A Covid-19 vaccination centre (PPV) solely for Tebedu district will open this Saturday.
It is situated at the Tebedu Community Hall and will cater for the people in villages in this predominantly Bidayuh area.
This new centre is also part of the state government’s strategies to expedite Covid-19 vaccination process so that Sarawak could complete the vaccination exercise in August.
Minister of Education, Science and Technological Research Datuk Amar Michael Manyin, who is also Tebedu assemblyman, is expected to symbolically declare open this new centre on Saturday.
Canopies are being set up outside the Tebedu Community Hall for the new centre.
Yesterday, Manyin presented items worth RM40,000, comprising laptop computers, printers and wheelchairs, as well as some money from his minor rural project (MRP) allocation to this new centre.
A political secretary to chief minister Dr Simon Sinang Bada represented Manyin to hand over the items to Tebedu district officer Joseph Liaw.
Sinang said the laptop computers, printers and wheelchairs would be used by health workers from the Ministry of Health during the duration of the vaccination process at this new centre.
He said this was the second contribution from Manyin to a centre, adding that Manyin had earlier contributed similar items to the centre for Serian which is located at Dewan Masyarakat Serian.
“These contributions are meant to reduce the financial burden of the divisional health office in carrying out the vaccination programme,” he said.
Community leaders and representatives from the divisional health office and N21 Tebedu Service Centre were also present during the handing-over ceremony.
Meanwhile, the N21 Tebedu Service Centre has started to hand over 1,093 food baskets under the Bantuan Khas Sarawakku Sayang (BKSS) 6.0 to families affected by the Movement Control Order (MCO).
Sinang said the distribution of food baskets started with 14 villages yesterday, to be followed by other villages this week.
