The man (centre) is being questioned by enforcement personnel when trying to enter the village.
KUCHING (June 5): A man, 22, was issued a compound by the police for entering Kampung Tanjung Bundong in Kota Samarahan, which is placed under the Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO) around 4.30pm Thursday.
Kota Samarahan District police chief DSP Sudirman Kram said the man entered the village on a motorcycle and was stopped by enforcement personnel manning a roadblock.
“Checks were then carried out on the man and the motorcycle he was riding. Nothing suspicious and illegal was found,” said Sudirman when contacted yesterday.
He, however, said the man gave an unacceptable reason when asked, saying he wanted to go to the village to meet a friend.
For that he was compounded under Rule 17(1) of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases (Measures within the Infected Local Areas) Regulations 2021.
Sudirman advised those who living in EMCO areas to continue to abide by the SOPs and stay within the confines of their homes.
“Those living in EMCO areas are only allowed to leave their homes when there is an emergency or when they need to undergo a Covid-19 swab test,” he said, adding that any queries could be made at the EMCO operations room in the village.
He added they would not hesitate to issue a compound against those who violated the EMCO’s SOPs.
