SIBU (Dec 1): Police have arrested 20 suspects in connection with a brawl in front of a cafe at Ulu Sungei Merah, here Sunday night.
Sarawak Police Commissioner Datuk Aidi Ismail said all those involved in the incident have been identified.
“The 20 suspects were brought to court today (Nov 30) for remand application,” he said.
In the incident, one person suffered minor injuries to his hand and was sent to hospital for observation.
Aidi said those with information regarding the incident can contact investigating officer ASP Musa Dolmat on 013-5082919.
On a separate matter, he said a police are investigating a Facebook account holder for uploading a video allegedly containing defamatory statements against police officers.
He said one of the alleged defamatory statements in the video was directed at a senior police officer stationed in Sibu District.
“We have received a report regarding the viral video, and are investigating the matter under Section 148 and Section 500 of the Penal Code as well as Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1988,” said Aidi.
