KUCHING (July 30): Sarawak State Mosque Welfare Trust Board (LAKMNS) chief executive officer Datuk Abang Abdul Wahap Abang Julai expresses his optimism to have the Awal Muharram or Maal Hijrah celebrated over a span of three days to allow more religious activities, performances and competitions to take place.
“This is the first time that we (LAKMNS) host a Maal Hijrah programme that spans over three days, where normally it would only be a one-day event in the past,” he told reporters after the flag hoisting ceremony of Maal Hijrah 2022/1444H at Masjid Jamek here yesterday.
“Looking at the feedback we have received from the public, we’re optimistic that we can make it happen,” he said.
Mock cheque presentations from the main sponsors namely Lubuk Tiara Sdn Bhd, Sarawak Economic Development Corporation (SEDC) and Takaful Ikhlas General Berhad also took place at the event.
